Observing Week: Day 4 & 5 "The Conclusion"

Fourth day of observing week. I was welcomed by the beautiful morning. 

This day I was entered 9-SJF class, 9-BJHS class and 9-FAB class. On this day, the classes still talked over the law of exponent because the teacher couldn’t continue the materials till they understood about this part.

So in every class for this day that I entered, Mam Esie discussed with the students about their assignment. Not far different from yesterday, the teacher asked them to answer it on the board for who raise their hand or Mam Esie could just point the students to answer it in front of the class.  Fortunately, the students already understood the law of the exponent. It showed by their assignment most of them could answer it correctly. So, Mam Esie decided to continue the materials that is to zero and negative exponent. But before it, she still gave the students chance to got any question or clarification. But when none of them to asked question, then Mam Esie would deliver new material to the students. The way she teach was conventional way then asked them to practice also gave them assignment. Before she closed the class, she asked the student to study at home because for the next day they would had quiz and it would be recorded score.

Happy 73th Independence day for my beloved country Indonesia J. Unfortunately  we could not joined the flag ceremony in Indonesia Embassy Philippines, because it was quite far from Cebu. So we just commemorated it with prayed hopefully our country be better, more devolop and be more good country for it own people.

Friday was be my fifth day of observing week. So today most of all the class had quiz. I was curious how would be they pass the quiz and how they did the quiz. I was entered five class for today. All the class had to collected their assignment and discuss it together. Then Mam Esie gave them chance to got clarification. From what I saw that every deliver the materials or after discussing the questions, Mam Esie always gave them chance to asking about anything that still made them confuse. Mam Esie said that is very important part to made them asking because some students may not asked when we didn’t  gave them chance, also some of students may feel shy to asking about what they still didn’t know. It would be fatal condition, it just like we closed chance for them to understood the materials. Then in every exercise they wouldn’t be able to did it moreover fo the quiz also.

I was impressed by the students, most of them in every class were active to asking anything that still confusing their mind. So the teacher would knew about their deficiency of the materials and Mam Esie would tried to explain it more to the students. When they had ready to quiz then the teacher started to give them the quiz with small paper that the teacher already prepared. All the students focus to did their quiz and quietly no one made a sound. After the time over, the teacher asked the students to exchange theirs to other student to check it together. It’s mean that other student check the work of another student. Then they discuss it together whether the right and wrong aswer. In this section all the students excited when they know their answer were right and some students sounds complain when they got the wrong answer. I really like to saw this situation when in the class because I like they way they expressed themselves when they took part in every section to learn mathematics.

After that, they collected their quiz paper to the teacher, because their score will be recorded. Then the teacher gave them assignment and summarize the material or the topic that they had learnt. It was important to conclude the materials after learn it to reminded the students and ensure they knew what they got after learn it. 

Because this day was Friday, they had came home early than other day. For Friday they just studied till 1.50 pm and at 1.50 pm to 3.50 m was for Club activity.
Today was the end of my observing week, because in here they were school for five day that is Monday to Friday meanwhile Saturday and Sunday they had holiday. I am waiting for my assistant week, hope I can share more for the next week and don’t miss my excursion day in Cebu City Philippines.
